Water pipes with a leak create noise. This fact is used in Acoustic Leak Detection to locate the pipe leak location for underground or interior pipe networks having leaks.
In this highly sensitive piezo electric microphones are used to intake the leak noises. These noises are then amplified, filtered and processed to assist in identifying a leak’s location.
The technology is widely used everywhere to locate leaks, locate pipelines, identify passing valves etc.

Acoustic Leak Tester can be used in locating the leaks of Chiller Pipes, Irrigation Pipes, Water Supply Pipes, Firefighting pipes etc which are underground. It can also be used in pipelines in buildings such as apartments, Villas etc.
Pipelines up to what depth can it locate?
The Acoustic sensors can be used to locate leaks underground even up to 10 meters deep. However, this also depends on various factors such as pressure of fluid in the pipe, size of pipe, material of the pipe, size of the leak etc.
What will be the accuracy of locating the leak?
Usually with the Acoustic Leak Tester the accuracy of pinpointing the leak is up to 1 meter.
DOES IT REQUIRE SHUTTING DOWN THE PIPE SYSTEM?
No. The Acoustic Leak Tester is a technique which does not demand shutting down the pipe network. However, upon the instruction of the Inspector on site the client may have to shut down the pipeline and isolate the section to be tested to maintain certain Inspection conditions.
